SMT Multispeciality Hospital, operated by the Shram Mandir Trust, is a 45-bed facility dedicated to providing free, comprehensive healthcare. Initially established to serve leprosy patients, the hospital is equipped with OPD sections, operation theatres, a physiotherapy centre, dental and ophthalmic units, laboratories, and general wards. With a decline in leprosy cases, the trust has expanded its mission to support socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, ensuring quality medical care reaches those in need.
To enhance its services, a major hospital upgrade began in 2023, introducing state-of-the-art equipment and advanced treatment facilities. This modernisation aims to improve patient care and extend medical assistance to a broader community.
In the past year alone, over 17,000 OPD patients and 100 surgical cases have been handled, benefiting residents from nearby rural areas. Through these efforts, SMT Multispeciality Hospital continues its legacy of accessible, compassionate, and high-quality healthcare.
Shram Mandir’s Mobile Health Unit Project brings essential healthcare services to 15 rural villages within a 20-kilometre radius of Vadodara, including Umeta, Chamara, Hathipura, and more. Operating Monday to Friday (11:30 AM – 1:30 PM), a team of doctors travels in a mobile health van to provide free treatment, counselling, and a 7-day supply of medicines.
This initiative primarily supports the elderly and those with limited mobility, ensuring access to medical care in areas where government or private healthcare facilities are scarce. In 2023-24, the project benefited 13,675 people, making a significant impact on community health and well-being.
The Medical Centre is dedicated to the daily care of leprosy patients, providing routine medicines and dressings within the residential area. This minimises hospital visits, with hospitalisation arranged only when necessary.
To ensure patients and the local community have convenient access to essential medicines, the trust set up a Medical Store. This eliminates the struggle of travelling long distances for medication, making healthcare more accessible and hassle-free.
