Established in 1978 by the late Shri Indubhai Chhotabhai Patel, the visionary behind Sayaji Iron, Shram Mandir Trust was born out of a deep commitment to serving those affected by leprosy. Inspired by the compassionate efforts of his father, Shri Chhotabhai Bahilalbhai Patel, Indubhai took up the noble cause of providing medical care, dignity, and hope to individuals who had long been marginalised by society.
With support from the Vadodara Municipal Corporation and the Government of Gujarat, the trust established a 100-bed hospital, offering free treatment, surgery, and physiotherapy. Mobile health units extend care to economically disadvantaged rural communities, ensuring medical support reaches those in need.
Beyond healthcare, the trust empowers future generations by providing free education, hostel accommodations, and skill development programs for children of leprosy-affected parents. A rehabilitation centre fosters emotional and economic recovery, helping residents regain independence and self-respect.
Today, 300 recovered residents, including 80 children, call Shram Mandir home. The campus thrives with spiritual gatherings, cultural programs, and community support, uniting donors, social workers, and volunteers in a shared mission of compassion and empowerment.
Today, Shram Mandir Trust stands as a symbol of compassion and service, carrying forward the legacy of humanitarianism that began decades ago.

Late Shri Indubhai Patel was the cornerstone of Shram Mandir, his heart a perpetual source of compassion. Fondly known as Dada, he held a deep affection for the marginalised section of society, a virtue inherited from his father. Fulfilling a promise made on his father’s deathbed, he dedicated his life to selflessly serving leprosy patients. His vision took shape in a serene campus near the Mahisagar River, amidst lush greenery and birdsong, a sanctuary where leprosy-affected individuals and their children could live with dignity. Dada firmly believed in giving back to society, ensuring that those once neglected found care and hope at Shram Mandir. Though he left for his heavenly abode 19 years ago, his legacy endures, carried forward by his family and well-wishers. The Shram Mandir family continues to honour his memory, forever grateful for his selfless service and unwavering love.
Guided by compassion and commitment, our trustees uphold the legacy of selfless service at Shram Mandir Trust.
